The Oberammergau Passion Play 2010
The famous play has been performed every ten years since 1634 by the inhabitants of Oberammergau in Bavaria in thanksgiving for being spared the worst ravages of the plague. Visited by Christians from all over the World, demand for tickets always exceeds supply, as our experience with the 2000 Passion Play demonstrated. We will be offering a 7-night package that includes a delightful stay near Lake Como in Italy, just the other side of the Alps, with opportunities to visit Turin and other places of interest. This will be followed by two nights in Oberammergau, with the Passion Play.
May 21st & 28th, June 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th, July 2nd, 6th, 16th & 23rd,
August 27th, September 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th.
The outward flight will be on Friday to Bergamo or Milan, from the most convenient departure points in UK that are available at the time, with return flights from Innsbruck or Freidrichshafen. On arrival you will be transferred by coach to the Hotel Miramonti in Rota d’Imagna for 5 nights half-board. There will be an included excursion to Lake Como and optional excursions available to Turin and other places of interest. On Wednesday there will be a transfer by coach to Oberammergau, via the Brenner Pass. There will be 2 nights full-board accommodation in Oberammergau in small hotels, guest houses or private homes. On Thursday morning there will be an opportunity to explore Oberammergau. The Passion Play begins on Thursday afternoon and lasts for six hours, with a 3-hour dinner interval. You will be provided with an English text for the play. The return flight to UK will be on Friday. Prices are expected to be in the range £995 to £1,200 depending on the category of accommodation in Oberammergau. All tour operators are awaiting confirmation of ticket allocations etc from Oberammergau, so the arrangements shown here are estimated but not final. A number of coach only may be arranged.
Hotel Miramonti is in the peaceful and picturesque village of Rota d’Imagna, in the Prealpi Lombardi mountain range, about 750 metres (2,460 feet) above sea level. It is 16 miles from the mediaeval city of Bergamo and about 5 miles from Lake Como and the lakeside city of Lecco, and 30 miles north of Milan. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, ensuite rooms with balconies and all the facilities you would expect. This is a lovely area for relaxation, walking and exploration. There will be a chaplain with each tour and opportunities for daily prayer and worship. A recent visitor to the hotel said: Hotel Miramonti was a delightful place to stay - the rooms and the view were lovely but best of all the staff were so friendly - it is a family run hotel and everyone was so very helpful and friendly it made our holiday.
